Build P6 programmes, analyse delays, perform Time Impact Analysis and prepare practical Extension of Time (EOT) claims
What you'll learn

⚡ • Build a practical construction programme from scratch using Primavera P6.
⚡ • Create WBS, activities, calendars, relationships, baselines and schedules in P6.
⚡ • Update project progress and identify delays against the baseline programme.
⚡ • Understand Critical Path, Total Float, predecessors, successors and programme logic in a practical project.
⚡ • Model a construction variation/delay event in Primavera P6.
⚡ • Perform a practical Time Impact Analysis (TIA) to determine the effect on project completion.
⚡ • Determine the Extension of Time (EOT) resulting from a delay event.
⚡ • Prepare a practical EOT claim with notices, programme evidence and supporting project records.
⚡ • Connect variation → delay event → programme impact → EOT entitlement → time & cost submission.
⚡ • Prepare a structured EOT submission package suitable for a real construction-project scenario.
Requirements

❗ Basic knowledge of construction projects is helpful but not essential.
❗ No advanced Primavera P6 experience is required.
❗ Primavera P6 installed on your computer is recommended if you want to follow the practical exercises
Description

Learn how a construction programme becomes a practical tool for delay analysis and Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
This course takes a practical, project-based approach to Primavera P6. Instead of learning software commands in isolation, you will build a construction programme and follow it through progress updating, delay identification, variation impact analysis and preparation of an EOT submission.
You will start by creating a project in Primavera P6, setting up the working calendar and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), creating activities and milestones, establishing activity relationships, scheduling the programme and assigning a baseline.
Once the programme is established, you will update actual progress and learn how to identify delays and understand their effect on project completion.
The course then moves into a practical construction delay case study involving an existing 13.8kV cable that requires additional lowering works. You will follow the event from the initial variation through programme analysis and EOT assessment.
You will learn how to
✨ Build and structure a construction programme in Primavera P6
✨ Create calendars, WBS, activities, milestones and relationships
✨ Schedule and baseline the programme
✨ Understand Critical Path and Total Float
✨ Update progress and identify actual project delay
✨ Understand the practical EOT process
✨ Identify the records and evidence needed to support an EOT claim
✨ Model a variation/delay event in Primavera P6
✨ Perform a practical Time Impact Analysis (TIA)
✨ Compare pre-impact and impacted programme positions
✨ Assess the effect of the event on project completion
✨ Prepare a formal EOT submission letter
✨ Organise a practical EOT supporting-document package
By the end of the course, you will understand the complete practical workflow
Construction Programme → Progress Update → Delay Event → Programme Impact → Time Impact Analysis → EOT Assessment → Submission
The course is particularly suitable for Quantity Surveyors, Planning Engineers, Project Controls professionals, Civil Engineers, Contract Engineers, Commercial professionals and construction professionals involved in delays, variations and claims.
