Description
Course IntroductionMental health touches every part of our lives, yet it's still one of the most misunderstood - and most stigmatised - areas of human experience. This course was built to change that.Across four modules, we move from foundational understanding through to practical action: what mental health actually is, how resilience is built and strengthened, why self-care isn't optional but essential, and how to recognise when it's time to seek help - for yourself or someone you love. Whether you're working in a caring, counselling, or support role, or simply want to understand yourself and those around you with more clarity and compassion, this course gives you a grounded, practical foundation.Course Description
Mental Health and Resilience is a four-part course designed to build genuine understanding and practical skill around one of life's most important, and most often misunderstood, topics.Module 1: Understanding Mental Health introduces the core concept of mental health, common disorders, contributing factors, and the misconceptions that fuel stigma.Module 2: Building Resilience explores the key components of resilience and gives practical, evidence-informed strategies for strengthening it.Module 3: Practicing Self-Care reframes self-care as an essential, intentional practice across physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and professional dimensions of life.Module 4: Seeking Help and Support equips students to recognise warning signs, understand available professional support, and confidently approach conversations about mental health - with themselves or with someone they care about.By the end of the course, students will walk away with a clear, compassionate, and practical understanding of mental health - one they can apply in their own lives, in caregiving or support roles, or in their relationships with the people around them.
This course is designed for: Caregivers, live-in carers, and care home staff who want a stronger foundation in mental health so they can better support the people in their care, and themselves. Family members and friends who are worried about a loved one's mental health and want to know how to recognise warning signs and start a supportive conversation. Counselling and support professionals (or those training to become one) looking to reinforce foundational knowledge on mental health, resilience, and self-care. Anyone experiencing stress, burnout, or emotional overwhelm who wants practical, evidence-informed tools for building resilience and practicing genuine self-care. Workplace teams and managers wanting to build mental health awareness and a more supportive, stigma-free culture. Anyone curious about mental health who wants to replace common myths and misconceptions with clear, accurate understanding.
