Connect data, build pipelines, create an ontology, and develop operational apps using Palantir Foundry.
What you'll learn

⚡ Understand what Palantir Foundry is, the problems it solves, and its core components.
⚡ Create a free AIP Developer account and confidently navigate the Foundry interface.
⚡ Connect external data sources such as Amazon S3 and PostgreSQL using Data Connection.
⚡ Clean, transform, union, and join datasets using Pipeline Builder.
Requirements

❗ No previous Palantir Foundry experience is required.
❗ Basic understanding of data, tables, rows, and columns is helpful.
❗ Basic SQL or data-engineering knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory.
❗ A computer with a reliable internet connection and modern web browser is required.
❗ Learners should create a free Palantir AIP Developer account by following the course instructions.
Description

Palantir Foundry is a modern data platform that helps organizations connect, prepare, manage, analyze, and operationalize data in one governed environment. It brings data engineering, business modeling, analytics, application development, and AI capabilities together, enabling teams to move from raw data to informed decisions and practical actions.
This beginner-friendly course introduces Palantir Foundry through clear explanations and hands-on demonstrations. You will first learn what Foundry is, which business problems it solves, and how it differs from traditional data integration and business intelligence platforms. We will also show you how to create a free AIP Developer account and explore the Foundry interface.
You will learn how to use Data Connection to connect Foundry with sources such as Amazon S3 and PostgreSQL. You will then use Pipeline Builder to clean and transform data through visual operations, including filtering, renaming columns, casting data types, handling null values, standardizing text, creating derived columns, unioning datasets, joining tables, and calculating business values.
The course introduces Code Repositories and explains when code-based transformations using Python or PySpark are more suitable than visual pipelines. You will understand how code repositories support reusable logic, testing, version control, branches, commits, and collaborative development.
You will also explore the Foundry Ontology, where datasets are represented as meaningful business objects such as Orders, Customers, and Products. You will learn about object types, properties, links, and actions, including how an action can update an order's status.
Finally, you will discover how Workshop uses ontology objects and actions to create operational applications. For example, users can review an order, examine related information, and change its status to Shipped or Cancelled.
By the end of this course, you will understand Foundry's core components and the complete workflow from connecting raw data to building governed datasets, business objects, and operational applications. No previous Palantir Foundry experience is required.
